Ian Defty

Ian is a chartered accountant and an insolvency practitioner, with over 30 years’ insolvency experience. He is routinely involved in complex litigation as a liquidator to recover funds misappropriated by bankrupts, directors, advisors or other fraudulent individuals. His expertise also extends to the recovery of assets locally and overseas.

A fellow of the ACCA, ICAEW and R3, Ian is also an associate member of the Proceeds of Crime Lawyers Association and sits on the R3 Fraud Panel, the R3 General Technical Committee, the Fraud Advisory Panel and the Economic Crime Prevention Group. He is also a consulting editorial board member of Lexis PSL. Ian was voted Insolvency Practitioner of the year in 2011.
